walking in circles
Two or three times a day I throw my camera over my shoulder and take the dog out to clear my head. The last few years especially, there’s been a lot to process. The world has contracted while anxiety has expanded. For all of us.
The challenge of photographing so close to home is in having a head that’s empty enough to see what’s right there in front of me. More often than not, I don’t… and the camera just hangs like a dead weight. But the process becomes its own reward- walking in circles, day after day after day after day; watching the birds fly and the seasons change. Patterns and connections emerge as the familiar becomes new again.
